Tankas.

I went to the park
It wasn’t on my way home
You weren’t there today
I left a flower on a bench
And caught the bus back

Our anniversary
Came and went without you here
Did you even know?
Seven months now wanting you
And you didn’t call

I missed you today
Your face always on my mind
You’re not here with me
Without you I feel so lost
It’s hard without you

I walked past your house
It wasn’t my usual route
Your curtains were closed
Your bike not in the garden
I went on my way

The phone rang last night
I hoped it would be you there
Calling to say "Hi"
It was only telesales
I put the phone down

A frosty morning
My car wouldn’t start at first
I wished you were there
With your can of motor oil
And your warming smile

The sun shines on me
But I’m unable to smile
My friends are happy
Booking their holidays now
Leaving me behind
